the author
Chaka Johnson is a Chicago native raised on the West Side, in Humboldt Park. He attended Lowell Elementary School and was homeschooled for a few of those years. He attended Malcolm X and Wilbur Wright colleges, majoring in computer science. Growing up, he immersed himself in the world of comic books, which inspired him to become a writer.
He is currently pursuing Game Development as a self-taught programmer, with the goal of creating his own studio.
Aside from programming, writing remains his passion. He is also a voracious reader, combing through the works of Charles Bukowski, Slyvia Plath, Ted Hughes, and other late literary figures as mentors in his literary endeavors.
the dreams ignored.
coming back like fire
to haunt those who
refused to give it life .
their bones gripped
angrily by that forsaken glory
as they lay in their final
hour,
burnt endless
by a hostile regret.
and the fire stalks
the soul well unto
their eternal night
echoing the saddest
rage.
